Hi I’m Jules - Nature Artist!

My Story

Artist, animal lover, and lifelong creative

My artwork is inspired by the personalities, humour, emotion, and quiet beauty found within the natural world. Through watercolour, ink, mixed media and oils, I aim to capture the fleeting moments often missed in everyday life — the curious glance of a kangaroo in the outback, the mischief of native birds, or the gentle soul behind the eyes of a rescued animal.

Every piece I create is an invitation to slow down, look closer, and reconnect with the incredible creatures we share our planet with.

A Life Inspired by Nature, Travel & Adventure

My life so far has been one long adventure filled with travel, creativity, unexpected career paths, challenges, laughs, and countless encounters with animals around the world.

Originally from England and now based on the beautiful NSW coast of Australia, I’ve lived and worked across the globe, drawing inspiration from the people, places, colours, and wildlife that surround me. From nursing and sailing to wandering through deserts, coastlines, cities, and remote landscapes, I’ve always been drawn to the stories and personalities hidden within everyday moments.

I’ve had a passion for drawing and a love for the outdoors for as long as I can remember. I’m never far from the sea or the studio.

It’s through my wanderings that I meet the animals you see in my artwork. Whether it’s “Grumpy” the camel I met while travelling through the Sahara, or “Shaun” the sheep curiously peering at me from an outback paddock, they all seem to arrive with their own unique personality, humour, and story to tell.

Working predominantly in watercolour and ink, I’ve developed my own gentle pen-and-wash style — flowing lines, expressive detail, subtle splashes of colour, and hopefully a little sense of mischief too. My aim is not simply to draw or paint animals, but to capture their character, emotion, and individuality.

After completing a Visual Arts Diploma in 2005, I continued exhibiting throughout regional NSW and later internationally in Singapore, where living in Asia inspired a bolder exploration of colour, texture, and subject matter. Today, my work continues to evolve through travel, observation, and a deep love for the Australian bush and its wildlife.

The amazing colours of nature, the strange calls of native birds, the smell of the bush after rain, and the quirky personalities of animals in their own environment all create a powerful atmosphere that constantly inspires me. Through my art, I try to capture a small piece of those moments to share with others.

When I’m not wandering, I enjoy the short commute through my garden to my studio with my dog Summer by my side. Summer usually finds the warmest patch of sun in the room while I get to work creating.

From Original Artwork to “Useable Art”

As a passionate traveller, I know how difficult it can be to find artwork and souvenirs that are beautiful, meaningful, practical, and easy to take home.

That idea inspired my range of “useable art” — turning original artwork into thoughtfully designed products including tea towels, greeting cards, prints, and gifts that bring art into everyday life.

Printing my original quirky animal artworks onto the humble tea towel led to the creation of my first useable art collection, “Conversations Down Under” — combining storytelling, Australian wildlife art, and practical everyday living.

My Australian-made tea towels have since become one of my most loved collections.

Use it.
Frame it.
Collect it.

Each piece is designed to celebrate the beauty, humour, and personality of the natural world while creating something practical enough to be enjoyed every day.

Creating with Purpose

My connection to animals extends well beyond the studio.

I proudly support wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organisations including Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary. I also volunteer my time knitting joey pouches for orphaned kangaroos, wombats, gliders, and other native wildlife needing warmth and care during rehabilitation.

A percentage of profits from Jules Nature Artist products helps support wildlife rescue efforts and ongoing care for injured and vulnerable animals.

Art has the power to tell stories, spark conversations, and inspire compassion - and I hope my work plays a small part in helping wildlife be seen, voices heard and lives protected.

Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary is a multi-award-winning marine and wildlife rescue sanctuary dedicated to the protection, rehabilitation, and care of native Australian animals.

Based in Coffs Harbour on the NSW Mid North Coast, the sanctuary provides a forever home for many injured or unreleasable marine and terrestrial animals while also playing an important role in wildlife conservation, rescue education, and endangered species programs - including helping protect the endangered Australian sea lion.

Every donation helps support the ongoing care, rescue, and rehabilitation of vulnerable wildlife.
